The use of steroids have been proven to change the brain wave actives similar to when stimulants and anti-depressants are used. The use of anabolic and androgenic steroids can cause permanent mental health issues, it has been found in many athletes that they become paranoid, unreasonable or angry.

Body Dysmorphia

  

Body dysmorphic disorder is a mental health condition where someone constantly worries about flaws in their appearance and is commonly found in teenagers and young adults.

Having body dysmorphic disorder can be extremely upsetting and can have a huge impact on how someone lives their life on a day to day basis.

Possible signs of BDD

Constantly worrying about specific areas of the body

Comparing yourself to others.

Constantly looking at yourself in the mirror or avoiding mirrors completely 

They may go to a lot of effort to conceal their flaws this could be, steroid use, plastic surgery, over excessive use of makeup or over spending on cloths are just a few of many thing that someone with this disorder may display.

Ways that it can be treated

If you suffer from a mild version of this illness it can generally be treated with Cognitive behavioural therapy. If it is a more moderate type then this usually has to be treated with (CBT) and a medication called selective serotonin inhibitor (SSRI). 

Body dysmorphic disorder can be cause through genetics (if someone in your family has a chemical imbalance also such a OCD) chemical imbalance in the brain or if someone has been teased, bullied as a child.
